Conditional Sentences

Four types of conditional sentences in Greek:

  1. 1st class conditionals – εἰ…. Protasis assumed to be true (at least for the sake of argument)
  2. 2nd class conditionals – εἰ…ἀν. Protasis assumed to be false (at least for the sake of argument)
  3. 3rd class conditionals – εἀν… Future/General conditions.
  4. 4th class conditions – εἰ…ἀν + optative in both parts. Possible/less probable future conditions.
